Charles R. Bjorklund has been drawing and painting all through his career as an
art director and graphic designer in New York City. His paintings have been
featured in many juried shows, including New Haven Small Paintings Show, New
York Apple Group Show, first prize in Brooklyn Drawing Show, Arts Clayton
Artists Exhibit on Travel, and the 2012 Lyndon House Juried Exhibition, in which
a series of three of his paintings received a Purchase Award. His paintings and
drawings are in private collections, many in the Leslie Lohmann Gallery Archives,
in Manhattan. Charles has a degree in Fine Art from the University of Minnesota.
He works in an expressive painterly style, mainly in acrylics and other water
media. His subject matter varies from still lifes to animal studies to ocean and
sailing scenes. He currently lives in midtown Atlanta.
Charles is passionately committed to an exploratory sense of the possibilities of
dynamic color juxtapositions in his work. And his practice of creating different
views of the same objects--for example, in his series of still-life paintings--reveals
the animating spirits within flowers and mundane objects as well as his deep
attachment to the dignity and sacredness of the natural world.
