Norman Gerald Watts was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 15, 1938. He was the third of four children born to Westley and Addie Belle Watts.
He studied graphic arts at the School of Arts and Crafts, now known as the Center for Creative Studies.
He has been awarded numerous honors for his artwork during his career and honed his craft while working for WJBK – Channel 2 and Cambell-Ewald.
Because his artistic talents extended into the musical realm in addition to the visual arts, he founded the Ashanti Drummers and Dancers organization and graced the stage at many events across Michigan.
Not only was Jerry a talented musician and illustrator, but he was a beloved father and husband that truly succeeded in all areas of life.
