Atlanta based artist, Jackie Begue, has been honing her artistic skills her entire life. Whether the expression of art was through the movement of dance, needle work, experimenting with mediums and photography, the essence of her current work on canvas is the sum of all those experiences.
She began painting in mid life, and studied under the guidance of many Atlanta based artists, master classes around the country and The Creative Visionary Program.
Nothing is real for us until perceived, and all we know is our own inner experience. Seeking to take this universal truth and communicate it artistically, Jackie Begue works intuitively in a process of depicting energy through color, marks and form. The natural landscape mostly informs her work, yet there is no attempt to mimic a view. Instead she conjures the feeling of being in the natural world, through a balance of color, line, textures and shape. Her paint surfaces are built up, scratched, removed, scraped, and further layers added, all punctuated by marks and lines and graffiti-like scribble. The surface becomes activated as historical layers are allowed to seep through.
