"My images are inspired by the natural beauty and design created by the sea and her shores. Whether it is the symmetry and color of a seashell or the patterns in the dampened sand, the seashore fascinates me and fills me with a sense of wonder. It is this magic and inner peace I find on the beach that I strive to communicate to the viewer. I begin my paintings in one of two ways. I start with either a photographic study of various scenarios of a beach; from close-ups of the rocks and their shadows, to the sunlight dancing off the water. Or I begin with one of thousands of seashells I have found since I was a girl, often mounted precariously atop my canvas so as to afford myself the best possible view. Often bordering between the elements of both abstraction and realism, my work has been described as both modern and surrealistic. My mind's eye locks into the shapes created on the surface of the water, the colors and curves of a seashell, or the distribution of rocks along the shore. Bridging realism and my imagination, I strive to take the subject further than simply a representation. My work is both a reflection of how I see the natural world as well as a statement of spirituality. Whether the painting is of an enlarged seashell or the surface of the water blown up to the point of abstraction, I am honoring our Creator in my attempt to focus the viewer's eye on what is so often in their realm of vision, yet they fail to see. There is magic everywhere. Focus. Feel the peace that is offered by our Creator in the form of our natural world. It is so precious. I invite you to join me in the sense of peace that can be found through our contact with the sea, her generous gifts and her magnificent shores."
