Artist’s Statement:
“ Art is Worship—for me. In each work—I seek to create a Testament to Jesus Christ and to express
His Eternal Truths. Art is My Soul in Flight– Speaking.”
I decided to dedicate my painting solely to Christ when I read a New Testament verse in St. James that read: “Every Good and Perfect Gift cometh down from The Father of Lights.” (James 1: 17)
We are “children of Light!” (Ephesians 5: 8)
How joyous it is, then, for us to take our gifts and glorify our Father in Heaven!
How am I inspired? Through prayer, meditation, worship, music and nature, however– the bedrock of my inspiration is a lifelong study of The Holy Scriptures.
Born in East Tennessee (Knoxville)—to a musical family of deep faith—I spent a childhood in my two grandmothers’ gardens. From the Irish heritage came the jewel colors: ruby, emerald, topaz, and sapphire. From the Scottish lineage came the muted palette of herbs: olive, ochre, sienna, and alizarin.
Relocating in Atlanta (family business)—public school gave me an opportunity to pursue creativity and teaching. (Tift College -B.S. Ed.; UGA -M.A. Journalism (Radio-TV-Film) & Ed.
After a career in teaching and a loving family (William) and children: Katherine & John—I rekindled my passion for art by attending the UGA School of Art & Design (Honors Program); In Atlanta-Workshops w/ Tony Couch, Tom Lynch, and Jack Stewart; and The Atelier of Atlanta (Director: Joseph Perrin.)

In the painting—“Child of God”—currently shown on this website–I used vivid color, line and interval in an abstract style– to portray the eternal felicity of being a member in God’s kingdom.
