Tony Pouncey
Artist’s Bio and Statement
Tony’s style of Abstract Impressionism involves the painting of subjects such as real-life scenes, objects, animals, or people in an impressionistic style, but with an emphasis on varying degrees of simplification and abstraction. The amount of abstraction varies greatly with each artist’s personal style, as each creates his or her own reality. The various techniques often involve layering the paint to create a multi-layered or textured effect, or an “impression”. Abstract Impressionists have been described to be inspired by modern advances and attitudes of color theory, and do not hesitate to apply innovative and revolutionary techniques to their paintings.
Painting and drawing have always been Tony’s passions throughout his life. He has always had a real connection to nature, and this is ever present in his artwork. He has been greatly influenced by other contemporary artists that share this love of nature and the thrill of painting and drawing. Tony and his wife Karen now live in a northern suburb of Atlanta and his studio is in their home. He still does some graphic design, as he won many awards in the past for packaging graphics.
